Zanzibar & the coast

Where the safari ends and the ocean begins

An hour's flight from the Serengeti: coral-stone alleys, spice farms, reef diving and some of the best beaches on the Indian Ocean.

Places worth knowing about

Zanzibar is not one beach. The coast you choose changes the trip completely — tides, wind, crowds and character all vary by side of the island.

Safari and Zanzibar together

The most common way our guests do it: wildlife first, ocean second, connected by a short domestic flight.

Zanzibar questions

Nungwi and Kendwa in the north have minimal tidal retreat, so swimming works all day — they are also the busiest.
